A very limited number of reels will be made available for the Nordic market.
We serve the Nordic markets exclusively. Production of the reels will be started when about half of them are spoken for.
The Restigouche model has ebonite sideplates and crank handles. The Restigouche has a seven position drag, and a "poacher" button which is simply an on-off click mechanism. The Restigouche is a single action reel. The Restigouche features nickel silver rolling pillar line guards and bands, tobin bronze spool spindles, and aircraft grade aluminum inside spool plates.
Many reelmakers create vom Hofe looking reels, but only Joe Janciuras has the reputation of having managed to establish a real continuation of the vom Hofe reels. Joe Janciuras is the only reelmaker we know that makes reels virtually exactly the same way as vom Hofe did them. About 50 years ago, the direct successor of vom Hofe, Otto Zwarg`s workshop (St. Petersburg, Florida) had to close his shop. At this shop the last reels with the vom Hofe drag were manufactured. We strongly believe Joe Janciuras will be a strong candidate in this historical sequence.
Joe Janciuras has performed in-depth research and communicated with many collectors and fly fishing historians, all in order to gather information that has made it possible to make a continuation of the vom Hofe reels. Joe Janciuras has managed to get every little detail in place. He has also realized the original Edward vom Hofe "Silent Tension Automatic Drag System" according to the patent dating from 1879 (US).
The vom Hofe reels have esthetics that are hard to compete with. Furthermore the drag system is legendary and superior.
